Pavers settling towards foundation
Re compacting sub grade and adding screenings to the proper height
Pavers replaced and compacted again with polymeric sand
This example shows pavers that settled around the coping of a pool. The backfill around the pool settled over time and creating a low spot collecting water. The water then washes the sub grade away and leaves the pavers unsupported. Low spots then collect more water compounding the problem. This type of settling is common when pavers are set on backfill around foundations, pools and retaining walls.
To remedy the problem the pavers are removed in careful order to re-screed and compact the sub grade. Paver areas that settle due to improper pitch are re-installed with the proper 1″ every 4′. Once the proper paver height is established the pavers are replaced.
The repaired area is then swept in with sand and compacted again. Regular mason sand can be used or we recommend Polymeric Sand for less yearly maintenance. Read more here about Polymeric Sand.
